      Hi Harshadkumar,

      Thank you for your enquiry.

If you are concerned about applying for a visa for your trip to Thailand (for more than 15 days duration of stay), we recommend that you contact the Thai Consulate in Auckland, NZ to get information on the process. You may also want to confirm with them if they do accept application for other types of Thai visas for citizens of India so you would know your options.

I am an Australian citizen that lives in thailand for 5 days out of every 3 weeks. Just hours ago I got taken aside at the International airport immigration and was told that I am not allowed to visit thailand more than 6 times a year without a visa? I work in mining in Australia and will have trouble applying for a visa in person. I was told if i don’t have a visa next time i arrive then i am banned from entering thailand forever? Is it possible to apply online? Or talk to someone at the consulate about this problem

We advise that you contact the Thai Embassy in Australia and ask them about how you can apply for a tourist visa (this is if your purpose of travel to Thailand is for tourism only).

As a citizen of the U.S.A., will I need a visa to stay overnight (each way) in Thailand with two entries to and from India? Thank you so much for your kind attention.

    Sincerely,

No, there’s no need for you to apply for any visa if you are just staying overnight in Thailand. Citizens of the US are permitted to stay in Thailand up to 30 days if entering via international airport and up to 15 days if entering through a land border checkpoint from a neighboring country (Laos, Myanmar and Cambodia) under the Visa Exemption Rule.

I am an Australian citizen who, for the past 12 years, have been regularly traveling to South East Asia 4, 5 or 6 times a year for business.
I do not draw a wage or salary from Thailand – I purchase products and services from Thailand.
Because of the geographic positioning of Thailand I have used Thailand as a ‘hub’ / base from which to travel in and around South East Asia – meaning I frequently enter and leave Thailand.
Upon my last entry into Thailand – June, 2015, I was informed that I would not be further able to enter Thailand unless I did so with a THAI VISA in my passport.
Entering Thailand again would apparently exceed 6 entries in 12 months and I would then be refused further entry into Thailand.
My questions are – (1) being fully aware that I have been given a ‘directive’- to get a Thai VISA to continue traveling to Thailand and no amount of question or query will change that – what is the best sort of Thai VISA to seek so as I may continue to enter Thailand as outlined above? (2) Is the 12 month period based on the Calender 12 months or a 12 month period from when Immigration query the entry?

      Hi John!

Since the purpose of your trip is to conduct business in Thailand, it is best to apply for a visa of which type is in line with business purpose. We advise that you contact or visit the nearest Thai Embassy or Consulate in your area for information on the visa application process.

In regard to your other concern, the 12-month period commences when you enter Thailand.

I am booked for a flight from September 16-Dec 18, In the past we have gone in and out of Thailand every 30 days. It looks like a few days over 90. Do I apply for 2 Tourist entries @ $35/$40. What would you suggest since I am actually only technically making 1 entry from the US?

If you will be staying inside Thailand for more than 30 days but less than or up to 90 days at a time, you will need to apply for a tourist visa. Tourist visa is valid for 60 days and can be extended for another 30 days inside Thailand. On or before end of your visa extension or the 90-day period, you may do visa run to a neighboring country to obtain another 15-day stamp.

Considering your travel plan to stay in Thailand from Sept. 16 to Dec. 18 of the same year, applying for a tourist visa and visa extension, and finally doing a visa run will give you sufficient date to stay legally in Thailand within the period of your intended travel.

Citizens of Australia are entitled to 30 days visa-free stay in Thailand. You may also apply for 30 days extension if you wish to stay longer.
